FAQs
Connect Lakewood is utilizing Axon Fusus to create stronger public-private collaborations and enable businesses and community members to work more closely with law enforcement. Public safety agencies depend on residents in neighborhoods to help mitigate crime, aid investigations and assist first responders on the scene of critical incidents. The Axon Fusus system serves to increase community security while maintaining personal privacy.
How does the camera registry work?
The Lakewood Police Department camera registry is a way to easily locate the nearest cameras in a designated area during the course of an investigation, emergency event, or emergency response. In the past, investigators had to rely on eyewitnesses and piece together pertinent information such as camera footage over days and sometimes months. The camera registry gives private residents and business owners the ability to register their cameras to an online portal, only accessible through permission, for law enforcement to quickly and easily use cameras to create a map of relevant cameras that could contain actionable evidence for crimes and lifesaving data.
How much does it cost to register my cameras?
Registering a camera is free. The registry makes it easier for investigators to contact camera owners for a digital footage request.
Can the Lakewood Police Department remotely access my cameras at any time?
No. Registering cameras means the Police Department will know where your cameras are located in the event of a crime or a critical incident. There is no direct access to any privately owned cameras, and the registry is only used to request footage if an incident were to occur in their vicinity.
If you opt to buy the equipment needed for the Level 2 camera integration, you set sharing preferences. You control what you share.
Who has access to the camera registry?
Only authorized Lakewood Police Department users have access to the entire camera registry map in Lakewood.
Can I unsubscribe from the camera registry, and change or delete my information?
Yes. Please contact connect@fusus.com if you need to adjust or delete your registration information.
Is my personal camera registry information subject to a public records request?
No. Your personal camera registry data is classified and is only accessible by authorized users of our system. Please see the terms and conditions. Shared video footage may be released as evidence in a case.
Will the Lakewood Police Department have a real-time streaming option?
Yes for those who buy the equipment to integrate their cameras at Level 2, but this streaming will not be continually monitored 24/7. Owners can pick which cameras are accessible for livestreaming. In partnership with Axon Fusus, a real-time option is available through the Axon FususCORE device with conditional access. Camera owners have the ability to choose how and when their cameras are accessible to the Police Department. Any video footage provided to LPD that is part of a criminal case is subject to the discovery requirements that are part of the criminal court case.
Can my cameras be accessed without my knowledge?
No. Both the Lakewood Police Department and Axon Fusus policies require the camera owner to give explicit written permission to access cameras for any reason whether the camera is registered at Level 1 or integrated at Level2. Camera access and settings are also entirely controlled by the camera owner.
Are Level 2 integrated camera feeds monitored 24/7?
No. While your cameras may continue recording continuously, the Police Department is not monitoring the live feed 24/7. In the event of an incident, recorded footage can be reviewed by authorized personnel.
Can the Police Department override my access settings to remotely access my cameras at any time?
No. Access is a strictly one-way system, which means that the owner's settings cannot be overridden remotely by Lakewood Police Department agents or Axon Fusus.
Can you register doorbell cameras?
Yes. The Axon Fusus platform can work with most commercially available camera systems, but there will still be no access without authorization from the camera owner.
Will facial recognition technology be used?
Axon Fusus does not employ facial recognition technology or integrate with any facial recognition technology systems.
Is the Axon FususCORE secure?
